The meetup.com site has problems, so I decided to try to create another place for Duranie meetup possibilities. Perhaps I should just call this "The Meet-Up Forum" and have everyone create a thread for each location where fellow fans want to plan a local gathering.

I also tried to create a board on proboards.com, but I spent too much time futzing around with colors and I hate dealing with that sometimes.
(Here's the link to that board for reference: KC Duranies Proboard) The thing is that thebassgod.com is international, and to create a board exclusive to Kansas City would, I think, make people feel left out. Let's keep it open for anyone to try to organize events in their local city, shall we? I know, it's a bit of a lofty idea, but let's see what happens. |

Sunshine, the Meet-up Forum is a great idea :)
Meeting up with other fans is always so much fun. I often meet up with some local fans. |

Hey Miriam, thanks for the encouragement. I am a member of meetup.com's Kansas City Duran Duran Fan section, but apparently they have made it hard for the meet-up organizer to control when and where the meetings are planned. I though this would be more democratic. Maybe.

Thanks so much for starting this Sunshine! The need was so great!!! So are you not going to use the pro-boards one? Either one is good with me. I kind of agree about letting it just be an area for meet-ups in general not exclusive to any area. I really hope this will help everyone else who is having problems!

You're welcome. I don't know, perhaps if we get this jump-started, we can move it to Proboards? I'm totally unsure though.
As I said on the other thread, it could be difficult to RSVP, although it could be done via a Poll. 'Yes, Maybe, No, or post a reason' BUT, you can't change your "maybe" to "yes" or "no" with a Poll. MySpace has an "event planning" function, though. I suppose we could use this forum to plan, and try to get people to set up MySpace accounts for event RSVPing? Edit: That being said, I haven't been able to get to the point where I can create a "group" there. Which I think is what we would need in order to just invite those specific people who are interested in our little events. Then, I could create "events" and "invite" people, and there is an RSVP function. |
